Checklist of Supporting Materials Required for Petition

  1. List of the petitioning members
  2. Catalog from the law school or a brief description of the school and its curriculum
  3. Letter of recommendation from the Dean of the law school
  4. Letter(s) of recommendation from members of Phi Delta Phi (if available)
  5. Completed initiation form (F) for each petitioning member
  6. Appropriate fee for each petitioning member
  7. Draft of proposed bylaws
  8. Choice of namesake of the Inn (provide a biographical sketch)
Upon receipt of the duly executed Petition and supporting materials, the Executive Director will present the Petition for Charter to the Council of the Fraternity for consideration.  Normally, a decision will be made within five (5) business days provided that the submission is complete and in compliance with all constitutional requirements.  The Executive Director will notify the Colony’s contact person as soon as a decision on the Petition has been reached.  Upon approval of the Petition, the members of the new Inn should immediately hold an election for Inn Officers pursuant to Article VIII of the Fraternity’s Constitution and schedule a formal chartering and initiation ceremony.
